Quote: Hehe, ok... but lets actually try and have some sense here. I know people want to keep insta-jump BM's because its easier than having to travel (as it was meant to be) but it really is affecting the game in a very bad way. Being able to defend a region from others who have insta-jump BM's is practically impossible. Alliances need more control over their region, and this is one way to start it...
Heh, well now I see where our opinions differ. I firmly believe that alliances, if anything need a bit of a nerfing. A relatively small group of people, as it is now, have COMPLETE control over a really sizeable chunk of the map. Leaves no room for anything except the most hardcore player.
I feel that as alliances are getting bigger and more powerful, the n00b is being shut out more and more everyday. While highly experienced players get a kick out of blowing up a 2 week-old players frigate, it's devastating to the newbie player.
Ok, imagine this. Lets say you're one of those players with 10 battleships and 500 million isk in your wallet. All of a sudden you have 100,000 isk in your wallet and only 1 battleship. You'd be filing petitions until you fell asleep at your keyboard. This is EXACTLY what happens to the poor noob who gets his thorax ganked after spending 3 weeks earning enough isk to buy it.
I'm just saying that eve is already a very non-inclusive gave with not enough room for those who have not been here since launch day.
Oh sorry Carmen, can't resist this one..
1) I am part of the Curse alliance, I semi-own one Battleship at any time (maybe two sometime oin the future), and my wallet counts somewhere between 0 and 10 millioin isk. I have played Eve for 8 months.
In my corp there are a number of players who have been a member after only a few weeks of playing Eve. They are (assetwise) now at the same point i am: they own a BS and have a couple of million on average.
2) Alliances are NOT relatively small. Total subscribers are about 25K if CCP doesnt overstate. Curse Alliance has over 1000 members. Now how relatively small is that ? It would mean we get to control one in every 25 regions ? Count them Carmen....
3) I personally dont get a kick out of killing new players, and neither do most of alliance players. They get a kick out of playing as a team, and out of interacting in a large organisation.
Now back to track: insta-jumps out of empire suck since they mean every resemblence of control over a region is out of the door at the moment.
edit: and im not talking about ganking indies full of ore but about defense. _______________________________________________
